At mOcean, we aim to accelerate ocean floor mapping and understanding using a self-sufficient, renewable energy powered unmanned platform that acts as a hub for charging a deep-sea exploration device, enhancing scientific knowledge of the seabed.
Our mission is to accelerate high-resolution ocean floor mapping, as only a quarter of the entire seafloor has been mapped. We want to achieve that acceleration by using renewable energy sources, for the benefit of the world and marine research.
Current methods used by maritime researchers performing deep ocean floor mapping are slow and highly energy inefficient, constrained by a constant need for human presence. The costs for scanning makes seafloor mapping impractical.
mOcean strives to innovate the way ocean floor mapping is conducted. The goal is to integrate an autonomous support buoy that can continuously supply energy, generated by solar power, to an underwater scanning system using a marine-grade cable.
We want to develop a technology that would allow faster exploration of the unexplored regions of our planet's oceans.
